The eSTARS (eLearning Stakeholders and Researchers Summit) international conference is the joint project of HSE and the Coursera global online platform.
eSTARS is a far-reaching platform, which brings together global stakeholders, specialists and researchers in online education from around the world. Participants meet at this event not only to exchange best practices, but, primarily, to engage in an interdisciplinary discussion of online education as a socio-cultural, philosophical, economic, psychological and communicative phenomenon.
In 2018, the 2 nd International eSTARS Conference was held, where the main focus was the ‘Role of Universities in the Human Capital Development within the Context of the Digital Economy’. The conference was attended by over 500 participants from 16 countries, including the USA, UK, China, Italy, France, Switzerland, Croatia, Lithuania, South Africa, the Czech Republic and others. Over 100 speakers presented at the conference’s 21 sections, featuring leading Russian and foreign experts, representatives of the business community and tech firms, as well as managers and specialists from over 50 universities in 29 Russian cities, from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok, and 14 foreign universities.
eSTARS 2018 was organized with the support of the Network of Universities from the Capitals of Europe (UNICA), while the publication Inside Higher Ed was the event’s general media partner.
