The third workshop of educational (psychometric) analytics
On February 20, the third Centre's workshop "Assessment of educational achievement by students of online courses" was held.
Centre's specialists together with participants of the workshop tested a new web application. This application allows authors and assistants of online courses to get analytics, which can be used to see whether students have achieved the set educational results, what was the difficulty of tasks and how the number of students changed during the session.
As a result of the workshop, the Centre's specialists will finalize the web application, as well as conduct a webinar for its users.
The second workshop of educational (psychometric) analytics
On December 19, 2019, the second Centre's workshop "Analysis of user experience of students of online courses" was held. Centre's specialists together with participants of the workshop tested a new web application "User experience". This app allows authors and assistants of online courses to get analytics on their online course based on student feedback. This analysis shows what difficulties students face, what they lack and what they like, what comments there are about the content of lectures, tasks and tests, whether there are enough additional materials, cases and examples in the course, whether the students understand the material and what is the overall impression of the course.
Work at the workshop was arranged as follows:
1. Introduction (a little about the Centre, about the workshop, about the agenda)
2. Demonstration of a dashboard based on screenshots with explanations
3. Testing the dashboard by workshop participants
4. Collecting feedback for further improvements to the dashboard
Webinar "Web application: a psychometric examination of the assignments for online courses"
On December 16, 2019, Daria Kravchenko held a webinar "Web application: psychometric examination of online course tasks", during which she presented and tested together with the participants a web application developed by the Centre, which allows authors and assistants of online courses to obtain data on psychometric examination of test tasks.
Workshop on adaptive learning
On November 19, 2019, the Centre's staff held a workshop on adaptive learning for authors and assistants of online courses, as well as colleagues from other universities and the corporate sector. Adaptive learning refers to the automated adjustment of the content, complexity, and format of educational content for students, based on their individual characteristics. At the workshop, we talked about such solutions from all over the world, showed what elements of adaptive learning can be integrated into HSE's online courses on Coursera and National Open Education Platform right now, and trained to do it together.
The first workshop of educational (psychometric) analytics
On October 4, 2019, the Centку's staff held the first analytics workshop for authors and assistants of online courses.
Why did we do this? Educational analytics is an important working tool for a modern teacher. Analytics can show what students know and are able to do, what learning difficulties they are experiencing, which learning materials work better and which ones work worse, and whether students are happy with the learning process. However, the form of presentation of educational analytics results is not always clear and useful to the teacher. Therefore, the goal of our workshop was to configure educational analytics for teachers.
In the summer, we worked on two analytical dashboards for the Coursera platform and the National Open Education Platform. Using these dashboards, authors and assistants of online courses can independently get analytics and statistics for the course tasks.
We demonstrated and discussed the first results of our work with teachers, as our goal is to make these tools convenient and informative, first of all, for them.
Work at the workshop was arranged as follows:
1. Introduction (a little about the center, about the workshop, about the agenda)
2. Demonstration of dashboards based on screenshots with explanations
3. Testing dashboards by workshop participants
4. Collecting feedback for further development of dashboards
Workshop on formative assessment
